Worth the detour.
The small, independent shops we'd send a friend to — for the home, the table, the garden. Chosen slowly, one honest place at a time.
We kept a directory once, for one kind of shop. This is the better version — the places we'd actually send you to. Furniture makers and ceramicists, linen shops and roadside farm stands, the weekend market you'd plan a whole morning around.
We add them slowly, and on purpose. A shop earns a place here when we'd stake our name on it — never because it paid, because none of them do. Today that's 201 shops in sixteen states, eighteen towns: Colorado first, where the Hollow keeps its own corner, and Oregon, where Sam has read his way to the right doors — then fourteen more, Maine down to Texas. The rest of the map fills in as we get there — one honest place at a time.
Where we are so far.
Open now — sixteen states, eighteen towns, 201 shops. The whole list.
The lit states are live; the green one is Colorado, where we live. The rest are coming, slowly.
The whole list, state by state.
201 shops in eighteen towns. Colorado we walk ourselves; the rest we research the same careful way — and every page says which is which.
Sixteen states of the fifty. The empty ones aren't a judgment — we just haven't been yet.
“We add a place when we'd stake our name on it — not when it would sell.”
Is This Your Shop?
A listing is free. All we ask is one of two small things: a link back to Blackbird from your own site, or a little affiliate arrangement — so when a reader we send you buys something, a bit comes back to keep the lights on here.
We only list places we'd vouch for. If we've gotten a detail wrong, tell us and we'll fix it — or hand you the keys to write it yourself.
