Asheville's shops don't gather in one place. Downtown carries the galleries — Biltmore Avenue and Patton Avenue, a couple of minutes apart — while Haywood Road holds West Asheville's general store and its plant shop, and the clay runs from a studio on Kenilworth Road all the way up to Weaverville. Several of the best rooms on this list aren't in Asheville proper at all: Black Mountain to the east, Arden to the south, Weaverville to the north.

It's grouped below by what you're after — clay, home and vintage, the kitchen shops, or plants and the market. Nothing here paid to be listed, and we haven't been through these doors ourselves yet. Where hours are published we've noted them; where they aren't, we say so. Confirm before you drive.
